The time has come to invest in a new CFD-cluster. The choice fell yet again on a solution by HP, courtesy of our trusted partner GoVirtual, who also managed the installation. The new cluster is a 120 node solution with Intel's E5-2660v3 2,6 GHz cores with a total storage capacity of 40 TB.
The new cluster will be dedicated to ANSYS Fluent and ANSYS Mechanical (FSI-coupling) software. The "old" cluster of 512 nodes is at the same time optimized to 256 nodes and will be used for other CFD-software and RnD-purposes.
The new cluster is leaner, yet faster and draws less power than the "old" (with 512-nodes) which makes it more environmentally friendly at the same time it increases our CFD-capabilities.
It's a clear case of less nodes is actually more!
